Photography workshop: studio shooting and post production

Sunday, February 10th, 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

This photography workshop is for beginner photographers. 

You will learn how to shoot a model in a professional studio and how to use your photo editing software’s most important features, settings, and how each one affects your photo. 

The workshop will consist of two parts:

Part 1. Portrait photo session. 1h.

Creating 3 different portraits with different poses and dresses. You will be able to work with the model and get the same set of pictures for yourself.

Part 2. Lecture with the demonstration of photo editing techniques

Polina will speak about the basic photo editing techniques in Photoshop that apply to any editing software you currently use. She will use the images from Part 1 to demonstrate every technique in Photoshop on a big screen. You can take notes or even record audio or video. You don’t have to bring your computer.

Covered topics:

  • Raw format. Why it is different from JPG.
  • Histogram. What are levels? How to adjust them?
  • Shadow and Highlights
  • Converting to Black and White
  • Softening skin tone
  • Liquify filter
  • Basic touch-up techniques such as improving color and tone, increasing contrast for sharper images, cropping.
